Sarah's right. A new algorithm (quietly) went into place again the other week. Time to recalibrate everything again, just in time for it to change again. :/

If FB's interest is to decrease reach on brand page posts to increase ad sales, I think the band is playing. We can rearrange and "optimize" the deck chairs anyway we like, it is not a promising sign.

Mari, with the election season right around the corner, this not a good thing. I also am contributing loss of engagement to the new iOS6 and FB app update, things started to go wonky when those changes were made. I am running ads and not seeing the same return on any of them as when I ran them in the past, very frustrating.

I have noticed less bands showing up in my newsfeed. One that I actively interact with are not in my news feed like they use to be I was wondering what has happened.

Dynamic vertical scrolling of my newsfeed seems to have been replaced with manual (i.e., I have to click "More stories"). Maybe that's a factor...

It's extortion. FB wants more money. Or they want us posting all day long for less ROI. Either way it's not good for those of us who built the content on FB. And why would I contribute more content to FB if no one's (.02% currently viewing my posts) going to see it?
The lesson here folks is what it's always been...own your own site because platforms come and go and diversify because there's more to traffic and sales than Google and Facebook.
I have no intention of paying Facebook to show my daily posts to people I already paid to get. As I've always done, I will pay when I'm actually promoting something.
I hope this gets fixed but I'm not holding my breath. None of this should be a surprise to anyone. Zuckerberg and crew have repeatedly shown a lack of any moral or ethical center. IMHO that lack is what's going to do them in.

Is it because of a huge increase in the use of ads & promotions (more competition)? Some promoted posts reach 0, some reach 15, & and some reach thousands…I don't get it. I can't even get my wife's feeds into my newsfeeds.…we've checked all the settings and the lists are the only way to stay up to date. Now that's weird.

I am also finding that "status only" updates have maintained a better reach than photos or links.. not that that does a lot if you are trying to get clicks back to your website.. My status only updates get about the same reach as updates a month ago (8%-20%).. but everything else is getting around 2-8% Max.. despite good engagement rates..

I've noticed a big drop in the past week or two, also. Stinks!! I've paid $5 to promote a few posts but didn't feel it was worth it. Engagement on my page was much better while I was running a Sponsored Story ad. Makes you wonder what they're up to... :(

I noticed yesterday that there were updates showing on the ticker, but not coming into my news feed. Very frustrating. So I started adding them to LIST so I could see the status update. Gotta love FB keeping us on our toes.

In the article mentioned by Erwin (above), it states... "The reach for many organic page posts will decrease. The number in this decrease will be anywhere between 5% on the low side to 40% on the high side. Some pages may remain unaffected which are following best practices for page publishing". Our reach has decreased MUCH more than 40% and as far as I know we ARE following best practices. VERY FRUSTRATING AND AGGRAVATING!

Same here, Resident Gifts- we are following Best Practices to the letter and my clients pages are dropping into the gutter. FB is becoming less and less valuable, even for free. If we cannot reach our entire audience who have LIKED our pages - why bother?

Mine dived a few weeks ago. Fed up with Facebook throttling games. It's the only platform where folks don't have the opportunity to self-regulate what they see in their feed. I'm upset twice. Not only do folks who Liked my page not get to see my posts, I don't get to see posts from my faves either, including those I interact with most. EdgeRank is a joke and this is not good.

When Facebook is done, no one will see anything they wanted to see. The loss of visibility is a blow for pages/business owners, but today marks the second time Facebook has asked me to clarify how close of friends I am to someone. I took a screenshot of it and posted it.

They have also lowered the amount of fans that you reach with each promoted post, meaning that you must pay more than before to have such a large reach - therefore it's clear to me that FB are pushing people to pay more and more to get extra revenue. My fan page reach has dropped a lot.

Apparently FB wants people to leave for other social networking sites. It appears that recent algorithm changes have changed what PAGES show up on our News Feed, even when you have the "Show on News Feed" option checked - sites are NOT showing up anymore. It's REALLY getting difficult to keep up with ALL the pages one has previously Liked. Guess it's time to go check those other networking sites and confirm that the most popular sites that one likes to follow are on them. If they are, the final straw may have broke the camels back.
